Even in the past few years, the role of the supply chain leader has changed dramatically. Once a role mostly just focused on getting the right products and devices to facilities, it has now widened across systems, been tested with resiliency challenges and become increasingly data-driven. Along with this shift, a new set of priorities has emerged, including:

  • Managing inflationary costs through supply chain centralization. Many leaders are working to centralize supply chain management and inventory functions across business/ service lines (e.g., centralized pharmacy hubs) to improve cost efficiency and transparency system-wide.

  • Incorporating tech augmentation to relieve strain. Leaders are continuing to explore automated/AI solutions to streamline or eliminate manual supply management processes.

  • Embedding data and analytics in supply chain management processes. Widespread workforce challenges have forced leaders to leverage greater analytics to monitor product tracking and inventories in order to reduce strain on limited staff and drive efficiency.

None of this is easy. To help supply chain leaders navigate their challenges and advance their strategic goals, we are excited to announce the launch of THMA's newest forum: the Chief Supply Chain Officer Forum.

The inaugural event will be held at the Park Hyatt in Washington, DC from December 9-10. This event aims to bring together Leading Health System supply chain leaders and industry thought partners to address the industry's most pressing challenges and shape the supply chain of the future. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions, share best practices, and collaboratively develop strategies to enhance supply chain operations for LHS. Key topics of discussion will include:

  • Aligning LHS system growth strategies with supply chain operations

  • Implementing best practices for product standardization

  • Developing strategies to enhance supply chain resiliency
